Sérgio Thompson-Flores
CEO
Mr. Thompson-Flores was the principal and founding partner of Worldinvest, from 1996 to 2006, a financial advisory and business development firm in Brazil. Prior to Worldinvest, he was the managing director of a Brazilian development bank with active private equity practice. Previously, he was a diplomat in the Brazilian Foreign Service and served in a senior position in the Brazilian Finance Ministry. He holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Instituto Rio Branco.
Alvaro Lima
Quaity Assurance Director (co-founder)
Mr. Lima founded Modulo in 1985 with the vision of helping businesses become more secure as their reliance on and use of information technology grew over time. Under his leadership Modulo evolved from a regional security consulting organization to a world leader in Governance, Risk Management and Compliance. He has directly supported many organizations in the implementation of the GRC strategies, and his multinational team of employees is one of the most experienced and highly educated workforces in the IT GRC field.
Mr. Lima is an international speaker at GRC events worldwide and co-author of numerous technology publications including “C-Language - Programming and Applications.” For 12 years, Lima coordinated Modulo’s security and audit system specification, implementation and development area.
Mr. Lima holds an undergraduate degree in Information Science from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), an Executive MBA from the Institute of Administration at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPEAD/UFRJ), an Executive MBA from Nova University, Florida with a specialization at the IMD International Business School, Switzerland.
Alberto Bastos
Chief Technology Officer (co-founder)
Co-founder and CTO of Modulo, Mr. Bastos is responsible for research and development of all Modulo’s products and new-generation GRC solutions. In this role, he initiates new strategic areas of research for the company and works to understand and support customer issues and requirements, collaborating with the company’s sales and consulting organizations. Mr. Bastos worked to design the base technology for Modulo’s MetaFramework, the engine that underpins the relationship between enterprise risk and compliance management. Mr. Bastos is also an international delegate to the International Standards Organization (ISO) working group on risk management .
Mr. Bastos was recognized by the Brazilian chapter of ISSA as the 2008 Security Professional of the Year. He is a member of the Brazilian national committee responsible for 27000 series information security standards which include ISO/IEC 27001 and 17799, coordinator of the Brazilian Risk Management Committee on National Technical Standards and Member of the CCE Working Group from MITRE (www.mitre.org).
Mr. Bastos has also been the chief designer and coordinator of various large security and risk management projects. He was responsible for Modulo receiving the world’s first ISO 27001 certification.
Mr. Bastos has an undergraduate degree in computer science from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and an Executive MBA from COPPEAD/UFRJ.
Fernando Nery
Business Development Director (co-founder)
Mr. Nery is responsible for driving sales growth of the company in Brazil, the largest market for Modulo in Latin America. Mr Nery has coordinated some of Modulo’s largest implementation projects in Brazil including the Brazilian electronic national elections in 2009, the National Payment Network and also the National Internet Tax Payment system.
Mr. Nery was recognized by the ISSA in 2005 - Brazilian Chapter - as the Security Professional of the Year and was recognized by Dow Jones in 1999 as one of the 10 most influential executives in Latin America for the electronic commerce, software and Internet sectors.
Mr. Nery is also an Executive Member of Assespro (The Brazilian National Association of Software and Services companies), a member of the Board of Riosoft (Network organization supporting software exports) and also a founding member of the Management Committee of Brazil Internet.
Alan R. Mattson
Vice President of Business Development
Mr. Mattson has been with Modulo since 2006. As part of his role as VP of Business Development, Mr Mattson is responsible for driving alliance and channel programs focused on creating significant new revenue for Modulo through global and regional system integrators, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), value-added resellers (VARs), distributors and outsourcers and service providers.
Mr. Mattson has more than 30 years of experience in software sales management. His experience covers system software, application software, databases, artificial intelligence, security software, software testing, and messaging middleware. Mr. Mattson’s experience also covers a variety of industries including manufacturing, retail, insurance, banking, government, and exchanges and brokerages. For the last five years he has concentrated on Wall Street with multi-million dollar sales to organizations such as the American Stock and New York Stock Exchanges (SIAC), NASDAQ, Liquidnet, Bear Stearns, CSFB and others spanning product development, consulting and sales.
With an extensive career in the technology industry, Mr. Mattson has worked for both large public companies such as Oracle as well as supporting a number of smaller and start-up firms such as ADR, McCabe & Associates, Macro 4 Inc.,and Verimation.
Mr. Mattson has an undergraduate degree in engineering and mathematics from the University of Buffalo, and a degree in Organizational Management from Nyack College.
Terence Lee
Managing Director, North America
Mr. Lee is the responsible for the P&L, growth, and development of the North American office. With 20 years of experience in Information Technology, Mr. Lee has strong expertise in operational risk management, audit, internal control, compliance, enterprise architecture, process analysis and improvement, business architecture, IT planning, and business process management. Prior to Modulo he led the North American operations of a European software company where he led the organization to record growth.
John Ambra
Director of Technical Services, North America
Mr. Ambra has been with Modulo since 2004. As Modulo’s Director of Technical Services Mr. Ambra is responsible for leading IT GRC projects for multinational clients by supervising and coordinating the development, research and quality assurance teams.
Mr. Ambra is also responsible for the design of customization projects , enabling Modulo's Risk Manager software to be integrated into multiple IT and application environments. Ambra has over 10 years of experience in Information Security and Audit. He is certified CISSP, CISA, PCI QSA, MCSO and 27001 Lead Auditor.
Mr. Ambra holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from IME.
Mark Bardoe
Vice President – Europe, Middle East & Africa
Mr. Bardoe has been with Modulo since 2008. As VP EMEA Mr. Bardoe is responsible for growing Modulo’s business by driving sales strategy and operations as well as driving alliance and channel programs focused on creating significant new revenue for Modulo in the region.
Mr. Bardoe brings with him over 20 years of management experience developing international business development strategies and programs for product and software vendors, as well as consulting organizations, in both the US and Europe. His experience covers enterprise and infrastructure, application software, integration & database environments and more than 10 years of e-commerce and web-based technologies. Mark has held senior executive positions with both public and private organizations including Promethean, Comprendium, Meta4, Baan, SMS Consulting and Cap Gemini.
Mr. Bardoe holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and an MBA from City University Business School, London.
